Solve the cantilever beam problem described below using plane stress elements and mesh of your choice. Compare your FEM calculated end point deflection and left end bending stress results with values you calculate by hand using solid mechanics beam theory. Do this twice, once with triangles and once with quadrilaterals.

The beam is 10 inches long, 2 inches high, and 1 inch thick (z direction). A downward load of 20 lbsf is applied at the free end. It is made of a material with elastic modulus E = 10^4 psi, and Poisson's ratio of 0.3.

Submit a sketch to define the problem, a screen dump of the mesh showing the loads, and boundary conditions you used. Submit results calculated, and a summary of the comparison. Go through the ANSYS Tuotrial Lesson 2 and other tutorials as necessary to prepare for the solution of this problem.
