(a.) If the displacements in a two dimensional, plane stress model have the variations shown below (at x=1, y=1) find the strains, and find the stresses if the material is isotropic and elastic.

Let a = 0.5, b = 0.4, c = 0.3, d = 0.2, e = 0.1, E = 1, and nu = .3

u(x,y) = a x^2 + b y^2 + c x + d y + e

v(x,y) = a y^3 + b x^2 + c y + d x
